I wanted to talk today about the second song of the EP - “ Separation”. I have been fortunate to visit many countries of the world, one of those was Hungary, in Eastern Europe.

It is a beautiful country, wild nature, and wild rock crowd. We had several shows in the main cities across the years and one day I had this conversation with a lovely friend. It was about how separation of her parents affected her childhood.

We carried on the conversation, and projected her experience on a bigger scale, if we socially have grown in a separationist culture.And if this is going to be the pattern for generations to come. And frankly I thought we were just exaggerating and too emotional maybe.Couple of years passed by and while this discussion stayed in my mind a revolution occured in my country in 2011.

Now what was happening culturally and socially during the years 2011 to 2014 most Egyptians couldn't see or feel its impact as they were in it. But a very strong separationist trend occurred between youth and older generations. A very strong gap started to occur between youth and the elderly. And mostly for economic hardships that the country was facing, this gap started to get wider. And more the perspective of dealing with such hardships and life in general.

You look back at this and realize how that moment was a significant ‘crossroad’ for Egyptians.
The clarity of the individual and society position towards the events.And the separation in reaction. It is a landmark of change in a society, the song is about this landmark.
