Tell me a time when your soul wasn’t shaken by the presence of masses of people around you.
It is one of the wonders in this world, people getting together.

There was some new ‘nerve’ in the voices of people taking to the streets, as if a new part of their souls had been uncovered in front of their eyes, in front of mine. You couldn’t put your finger on it, but it was happening, like an unleashed tide, a rock song that hits you.

Because this feeling was so original in my life in Egypt, the tune of this song had to be extremely original, dynamic and unpredictable. It was the first tune I have ever written, it went to a thousand variations until I found its identity as an artwork.

It is so surprising that when a society is taking action to change, it is mostly looking back to the past, not the future. In the middle east, this talk about how great our past was believe it or not a key driver in taking a step towards change. Interestingly I found that we as individuals sometimes also have the past push us forward to a better future.

It is an unexpected tune. It is an outburst.
